Perfumed Pinot Gris from New Zealand: a satisfying mouthful of poached pear, quince, ginger and a juicy spurt of melon.
Try with poultry and mushroom dishes, such as creamy pasta/risotto with porcini or heavier seafood dishes.
We have a special clone of Pinot Gris planted, called Berrysmith which is known for its very small berries and thick skins, creating juice with amazing concentration. Select parcels of Pinot Gris were harvested from our Upper Wairau Valley Vineyard and our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley. The blocks were selected for their purity of flavour and balance.
Destemmed, must chilled and gently whole bunch pressed. Inoculated post cold settling with specialist PG yeasts. Controlled fermentation at 15C in stainless steel for 18 days. Maturation takes place in 100% stainless steel tanks, spending four months on lees post fermentation, stirring weekly.
