From the oldest single-estate winery in Rioja, founded in 1973. Deep ruby red in colour, this wine proffers gorgeous black and red fruit with supporting notes of integrated vanilla, mocha, milk-chocolate, raspberry and blackcurrant pie and a hint of mushroom. The wine has a buttery creamy texture from malolactic fermentation, and grippy softening tannins and still-ripe bright fruit ensure a persistent finish.
The wine is initially a little closed on the palette, indicating it would do well to decant prior to serving, but also suggesting that this wine still has some signifiant ageing potential.
Made from a Rioja blend of (85%) Tempranillo with additional Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo.
Pair this beauty with dense high-protein dishes such as steak, lamb, game, grilled wood-pigeon perhaps or some truffle-heavy dish. Divine!
